Independent retailer begins liquidation September 3

WALLED LAKE, Mich. (August 31, 2026) — Home Interior Warehouse is closing its store in Walled Lake after 46 years. The store opens its sale to the public September 3 with once-in-a-lifetime prices on all inventory. The Plymouth location will remain open.

Founded by Jackie Schwartz in 1980 as Home Accessory Warehouse, the retail business originally sold silk floral arrangements, pottery, artwork and home accessories. Guided by Schwartz’s design expertise and passion for home furnishings, the company grew over the next 12 years and moved to its current Walled Lake location in 1992. The business then rebranded as Home Interior Warehouse, adding high-quality furniture and interior design services with a specialty in model homes and clubhouses. In 2018, Home Interior Warehouse expanded with the opening of a boutique store in downtown Plymouth.

“For 46 years, our customers have trusted us to be part of their homes and their lives, and many have become friends,” said Schwartz. “I’m incredibly grateful the customers and community that have supported us over the years.”

The store-closing sale for Home Interior Warehouse begins September 3 at 1017 E. West Maple Rd., next to Casey’s Restaurant. During the sale, deep discounts will be offered on furniture, home accessories and heirloom rugs from around the world. Famous name brands include Bassett Furniture, Bernhardt, Crestview, Hammary, Hooker Furniture, Jessica Charles, John Thomas Furniture, Mercana, Norwalk Furniture, Parker House, Riverside Furniture, Southern Motion, SUNPAN, Universal Furniture, USA Leather and Vanguard Furniture, Wesley Hall.
